Efficacy of pupil expansion device in small pupil cataract surgery: a one year prospective interventional study in a tertiary care centre

Title: Efficacy of pupil expansion device in small pupil cataract surgery: a one year prospective interventional study in a tertiary care centre
Authors: REG NO: BK0121005
Abstract: Introduction:
Cataract is identified as the leading cause of moderate or severe vision impairment globally. The small, poorly dilated pupil is one of the most common difficulties faced by cataract surgeons. Literature states that small pupil cataracts accounted for about 11 percent of all cataract operations. Small pupil makes the surgery more difficult to perform and causes more postoperative damage response. The incidence of complications such as capsular rupture and vitreous loss increases remarkably. Numerous pharmacologic and mechanical strategies have been developed to increase pupil size and optimize surgical visualization. Newer Pupil expansion device provide increased points of pupillary margin fixation to provide uniform pupil dilation, resulting in a better intraoperative visualization as well as less postoperative pupil distortion
Objective Of the Study:
To determine the efficacy and safety of Pupil expansion device in small pupil cataract surgery undergoing phacoemulsification.

Correlation Of Cumulative Dose And Duration Of Steroid Therapy With Ocular Manifestations In Children With Nephrotic Syndrome - A One-Year Cross Sectional Study

Title: Correlation Of Cumulative Dose And Duration Of Steroid Therapy With Ocular Manifestations In Children With Nephrotic Syndrome - A One-Year Cross Sectional Study
Authors: REG.NO: BK0121004
Abstract: Introduction: Nephrotic syndrome (NS) is the most common kidney disease in children aged 2 to 18 years, which presents with massive proteinuria (40mg/m2/hour), hypoalbuminemia (< 2.5 gm/dl), hypercholesterolemia and edema. Corticosteroids and sodium restriction are the mainstay therapy for nephrotic syndrome. The disease has a chronic, relapsing course requiring repeated, prolonged course of steroid therapy. Long term use of corticosteroids is associated with ocular complications like increased risk of cataract formation and development of glaucoma.
Objective of the Study:
 To study correlation of cumulative dose and duration of steroid therapy with ocular manifestations in children with nephrotic syndrome.
 To study the steroid independent ophthalmic findings in children with NS

Title: Ocular associations of metabolic Syndrome at tertiary health care Centre -a cross sectional study
Authors: REG NO: BK0121002
Abstract: Introduction:
The increased prevalence of metabolic syndrome is becoming a significant
public health challenge. It is a known significant risk factor for development of cardiovascular
diseases, cerebrovascular diseases and diabetes mellitus type 2. Association
of metabolic syndrome to age related cataract, glaucoma, macular degeneration
and intraocular pressure has been emphasized in several studies. The present study
was carried out to assess the ocular manifestations in metabolic syndrome
