Title: Evaluation of prenatal education Program on pregnancy health Practices in mothers at a tertiary Care hospital of Belagavi
Authors: Arenlila Jamir
Abstract: ABSTRACT
Background: During pregnancy, the well-being of both mother and baby is
paramount, requiring lifestyle adjustments. The World Health Organization stresses
the importance of engaging pregnant women in healthy behaviors, including a
balanced diet, regular exercise, proper supplement intake, and avoiding harmful
substances. These health practices significantly impact maternal, fetal, and
pregnancy outcomes. Educating women about healthy pregnancy practices, labor,
and parenting readiness boosts their confidence in managing pregnancy challenges.
Family support, especially from fathers, is crucial in promoting these healthy
practices. Fathers' active involvement creates a positive environment, reduces
negative maternal health behaviors, and mitigates various risks.

Determinants and consequences of Malnourished underfive urban Children: a cross sectional study

Title: Determinants and consequences of Malnourished underfive urban Children: a cross sectional study
Authors: Mrs.Vaishali S.Bagewadi
Abstract: ABSTRACT
Malnutrition is now the most prevalent nutritional condition in poor nations, and it is
a major contributor to under-five mortality and morbidity globally. More than one
third of the world's malnourished youngsters are found in India alone. Among them,
more than half of young children under the age of 3 are seemed to be underweight.1
The objective of this study was to assess the determinants of malnutrition among
underfive children. Study design: A cross sectional study with key informant
interview to identify the determinant factors of malnutrition.460 children with their
mothers participated in the study. Anthropometric measurements were taken and
causative factors were assessed with pre tested and validated questionnaires. Odds
ratio with 95% confidence interval was used to identify the determinants of
Malnutrition among underfive children using multivariate logistic regression.
Results: Muslim children (OR=0.40 (95% CI, p=0.0010), Extended family (OR= 5.42
(95% CI, p=0.0001) Breastfeeding started very late (OR= 4.99 (95% CI, p=0.0001),
Bottle feeding (OR=0.28 (95% CI, p=0.0030), Daily feeding frequency < 5 times
(OR=3.38 (95% CI, p=0.0001),Exclusive breastfeeding not given for 6 months(OR=
2.69 odds (95% CI, p=0.0001) and Bottle washed only with water (OR= 0.74 odds
(95% CI, p=0.0500) were more likely to suffer from malnutrition.

Authors: Mr.Virupakshappa Savadi
Abstract: ABSTRACT
"DETERMINANTS OF GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT IN UNDER FIVE
RURAL CHILDREN: A CROSS SECTIONAL STUDY"
Background: A child's later achievement levels are influenced by their optimal
development during the early years of life.
Objectives: To evaluate the growth and development in children less than five years
in rural Belagavi and to estimate the determinants of growth and development among
children less than 5 years in rural Belagavi.

Determinants of Perinatal Mortality In Tertiary Care Hospital

Title: Determinants of Perinatal Mortality In Tertiary Care Hospital
Authors: Mrs.Uma L. Kole
Abstract: Background: Every 16 seconds a stillborn is born worldwide. That amounts to more
than 5000 women and families who experience a devastating loss each day
1 Stillbirths are more common in low- and middle-income countries.
According to the statistics, Belagavi, Ballari, and Gadag (282,151 and 75
respectively) have reported a high frequency of neonatal fatalities (death within 7
days). However, Karnataka has the dubious distinction of having the highest stillbirth
rate in the nation, with 12 deaths per 1,000 live births, according to the Sample
Registration Survey (SRS). Stillbirths and perinatal mortality rate are the only two
indicators where Karnataka's figures are higher than those of India.
2020 noted 21 infant deaths per 1,000 live births in the State's rural regions,
compared to 16 in the urban area.
A lack of studies and data are missing to determine the precise numbers and
trends of stillbirths and neonatal deaths in Belagavi, Karnataka.
Thus, the current study is undertaken to help the decision-makers to identify
problems and track temporal and geographical trends and disparities in maternal
health services to implement the health care services as per the needs of the society.
Objectives
1. To study the incidence and associated risk factors of perinatal mortality in a
selected tertiary care hospital.
2. To find out the association between perinatal mortality with maternal and
neonatal factors
