Abstract: Background: The study determines the minimum volume of local anesthetic for an effective ultrasound guided brachial plexus block for upper limb surgeries. Dixons up-and-down method was used to administer the predetermined volume of local anaesthetic with 2ml increment or reduction determined by the result of previous patient. Objectives: The aim is to determine the minimum effective volume of local anesthetic by applying Dixon’s up-and-down method needed to produce an effective supraclavicular brachial plexus block under ultrasound guidance in 50% patients (MEAV50) undergoing upper limb surgeries
