Abstract: Background: Acute abdomen is one of the most common emergencies presenting to the casualty. Bowel pathologies are the most common cause of acute abdomen which can be both traumatic and non-traumatic. Few of the common non-traumatic bowel pathologies are acute appendicitis, acute gastrointestinal hemorrhage, colonic diverticulitis, large bowel ischemia, large bowel obstruction, small bowel ischemia, and small bowel obstruction. Computed tomography has revolutionized the management of acute abdomen by providing swift and effective diagnosis of these pathologies. The present study was done to evaluate the role of computed tomography in non-traumatic bowel emergencies in adults.
