Background: Preterm birth is defined as delivery before 37 completed weeks of gestation, or 259 days, from the commencement of the previous menstrual cycle. It is significantly linked with under 5 mortality, LSCS rates, morbidity over the long term, financial burden. This study is an effort to determine the incidence of total preterm births, including the incidence under the different categories, risk factors, and neonatal outcomes of preterm deliveries in our study setting, taking into account the increased incidence of preterm delivery in India, as highlighted by WHO and the previous studies conducted in our hospital settings. Methods: It is a prospective observational study conducted in KAHER’S Dr Prabhakar Kore charitable hospital over a period of 12 months in women who delivered in less than 37 weeks of pregnancy in the Labour Room as per inclusion and exclusion criteria. Maternal and perinatal outcome were studied.en_US
