| Abstract: | Evaluation of the effect of Dexmedetomidine as adjuvant to Ropivacaine in ultrasound guided popliteal Sciatic nerve block in below knee surgerya One year hospital based double blind Randomized clinical trial” Background: For improving the characteristics of nerve blocks we use varieties of adjuvants. Dexmedetomidine is a highly selective alpha 2 adrenergic agonist proven to be better than clonidine as an adjuvant to local anaesthetics in nerve blocks. Objectives: The purpose is to assess the impact of Dexmedetomidine added to Ropivacaine in ultrasound guided Popliteal Sciatic nerve block for below knee surgery. The onset, duration of sensory and motor block, effect on intraoperative hemodynamic parameters, time to 1st dose of analgesic and total analgesic requirement in 1st 24 hours’ post-surgery are studied. |
