Abstract: ABSTRACT TITLE: “CORRELATION OF SERUM PROLACTIN LEVEL TO CHILD PUGH SCORING SYSTEM IN PATIENTS OF CIRRHOSIS OF LIVER IN A TERTIARY CARE HOSPITAL-A CROSS SECTIONAL STUDY” BACKGROUND: Liver cirrhosis accounts for 4% of deaths worldwide. India contributes one-fifth of the overall deaths due to cirrhosis of liver globally. The child Pugh scoring system provides long-term severity of the liver disease and helps in predicting mortality among patients with cirrhosis of liver. With rising incidence of cirrhosis of liver, particularly in Asian countries, there is a need for incorporating additional markers that help in assessment of severity of liver disease in addition to the Child Pugh scoring system. Our study involves in assessment of one such marker, Serum Prolactin by correlating its levels to Child Pugh scoring system, which can provide further insights into the disease severity and potential complications. AIM: The study is designed to evaluate the prognostic corelation of Serum Prolactin level to Child Pugh scores in patients with cirrhosis of Liver in a Tertiary Care Hospital.
