| Abstract: | Introduction: Distinguishing between alcoholic liver disease (ALD) and non alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) poses a significant clinical challenge due to overlapping histopathological features, particularly when patient history regarding alcohol consumption is unreliable. The Alcoholic Liver Disease/Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease Index (ANI) has emerged as a promising non invasive biomarker to differentiate between these conditions, potentially obviating the need for liver biopsy. This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of the ANI scoring system in distinguishing ALD from NAFLD in a tertiary care setting. |
