| Abstract: | Introduction: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by insulin resistance and impaired insulin secretion, leading to persistent hyperglycemia. The global prevalence of T2DM has surged, with India recognized as a major hub for diabetes cases. Microvascular complications such as diabetic retinopathy, nephropathy, and neuropathy significantly contribute to morbidity and mortality in diabetic patients. Indices of platelet, including Mean Platelet Volume (MPV) and Platelet Distribution Width (PDW), have emerged as potential biomarkers for assessing microvascular complications and disease progression. Methods: A hospital-based cross-sectional study was conducted with 125 patients diagnosed with T2DM. Clinical records, laboratory reports, and direct patient interviews formed the primary sources of data. Platelet indices, including MPV, PDW, and Platelet Large Cell Ratio (P-LCR), were measured and correlated with microvascular complications and HbA1c levels. Statistical analysis was performed using R version 4.4.0 and Microsoft Excel. |
