Abstract: An issue that is important in all aspects of laparoscopic surgery is initial intraperitoneal access. In order to insert the laparoscope, an Intraumbilical or Periumbilical incision is usually performed. Very few studies have compared the cosmetic outcome between intraumbilical incision and periumbilical incision. The current literature provides limited and contradictory information about postoperative cosmetic satisfaction, incidence of Surgical site infection and operative time between intraumbilical versus periumbilical incision. The current study aimed to compare the better cosmetic outcome between transumbilical and periumbilical incision for primary port insertion in cases of Laparoscopic Appendicectomy and Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy.
