Abstract: The importance of a proper technique in closing the port sites in laparoscopic surgery is well established, and to prevent complications, fascial closure is recommended for ports of size more than 10 mm. This study compared the post-operative port site complications (pain, surgical site infection, and hernia), after the fascial closure of 10 mm port sites with an absorbable multifilament suture (VicrylTM) and a non-absorbable monofilament suture (ProleneTM) using spinal needle in subjects undergoing laparoscopic gastrointestinal surgeries.
