Abstract: Introduction: The recent introduction of the Mental Healthcare Act 2017 in India has made assessment of capacity to consent as integral part of the clinical work. However, there are no proper guidelines regarding the assessment of capacity and to the best of our knowledge, there are no studies done on this topic in India.
